Crafts on display

The Kaduna State Creative Arts Exhibition Fair (KADCAEF 2017) organised by the office of the S.A Creative Arts Development to Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai was a huge success. The Government under the leadership of Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai.

His Excellency mallam Nasiru Elrufai, had through the office of the S.A on Creative Arts Development Hajia Halima Idris. Gave the people of Kaduna something that will serve as an avenue of expression and interaction and that’s the Creative Arts Industry: A platform for support and promotion of Creative Arts in the state. The government believes that art is a form of expression and over the years, many countries have been able to address youth restiveness through Creative Arts. One way or the other everybody is a part of the Creative Arts Industry.

Some of the aims of this exhibition were:

  • To be a harbinger of peace among the diverse people of Kaduna.
  • To help promote the cultural heritage of Kaduna indigenes.
  • To showcase the Arts and Crafts of Kaduna State.
  • To open the Kaduna State Creative Arts Industry sector to investor: who would want to invest in the industry.

The event cut across the 3 zones in the state which comprises of 23 local government was flagged of on 2nd of Oct. 2017. The zone 1 exhibition was organised at Sabon Gari Local Government secretariat, many people came to witness the ground breaking event – that was the first time such an event is being organised in State.

The Exhibition in zone 3 was organised in Kafanchan on the 4th of Oct. 2017, and the turnout was massive. Musical performances, handmade crafts and works of arts were all on display. The people of Zone 2 couldn’t find enough words to express their gratitude to the governor for giving them such as opportunity to show the world what they have.

In zone 2 we there was a total 185 Musicians both Traditional and Contemporary, then a total of 133 Exhibitors. That’s a grand total of 318 people who are members of the Kaduna State Creative Arts Industry. They all came to display their crafts, Arts and talents.

The creative Arts Industry is one area that has been booming and which if properly harnessed can be a major source of revenue generation for the government. The just concluded Kaduna creative Arts exhibition fair proved that it is achievable.
